I've always heard about Temple's amazing music program, and the rumors are true! I've loved every minute of being a part of it, and I can't wait to continue and explore more ways I can perform. Hello, my name is Sylvia (she/her)! I’m a junior majoring in Psychology and pursuing an Honors Interdisciplinary minor in Social Justice. I was born and raised in Florida and Boston! Being accepted into the Honors Program played a large role in my decision to choose Temple, but I’ve always loved our campus and Philadelphia’s proximity to other major cities. I’ve gained experience in a variety of leadership and service-oriented roles at Temple. I work at the Cherry Pantry in the student center, tutor with a wonderful organization called Grandmas' Kids, and create motivational content. Five things I love are: movies, traveling, cooking, working out, and quality time with myself and my loved ones. I am eager to continue exploring my passion for mental health, youth development, and counseling. Hi there! My name is Sira (she/her/hers), and I am currently a junior student with a major in Psychology, a minor in Chemistry, and following the pre-med track. I am from Marcus Hook in Delaware County, PA, which is about 40 minutes outside of Philadelphia. I chose to come to Temple because of the large array of resources, diversity within the student body/faculty, and the location/proximity to home, as well as the perks of being a part of the Honors program, and being a student in the College of Liberal Arts. I chose Temple because of the research community and the friendly Honors setting. I also love being part of the Sonkin-Weisman Scholars Program. I currently work as an Emergency Room Technician at Temple University Hospital and perform clinical research at the Aphasia Rehabilitation Research Lab, and I'm also involved with Pi Delta Epsilon, our pre-med fraternity. Hi, I'm Katana (she/her)! I am from California, so I love the beach, and everything LA. I grew up playing many sports, mainly volleyball, which I played for 7 years. I also played on an intramural team here at Temple, where we got second in the playoff tournament! This year I got a research assistant position at the Social Developmental Neuroscience lab where we use MRI technology to assess social anxiety levels based on peer feedback in adolescents. I have a strong passion for research and neuroscience. I love working with kids and this research allows me to do more of this. I really enjoy old school R&B and live music. I also take a lot of pride in my mixed heritage and love learning more about others cultures as well as my own. I am a member of BSU and psychology majors of color. I am also on the board for Honors Community Outreach and get the opportunity to get more in touch with Philly!

Hi! My name is Hannah Lee and I'm a Sophomore Psychology major. I am from Ellicott City, Maryland, near Baltimore. I came to Temple and Philly because I love the city, the diversity, and all the opportunities here! On campus I am involved in Psi Chi (The International Honor Society in Psychology). This summer I shadowed a school psychologist which made me realize I am interested in school psychology and working with children. Hi there! My name is Emily Brendlinger and I'm a sophomore Psychology major with a minor in Cognitive Neuroscience. I'm from Collegeville, PA, which is about an hour away from Temple. Originally, Temple was not my top choice, but since coming here, I've had many opportunities to build a strong foundation for my future and connect with many amazing people. I’ve been a part of HATT since my freshman year, and am currently one of the HATT Coordinators! Outside of HATT, I love conducting research relating to psychology. I work as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in Temple’s Control and Adaptive Behavior Lab, and am a Research Assistant with the Leonard Learning Lab at Yale University. Outside of school, I love to rock climb. I’ve been an active member of Temple’s Climbing Club, and currently serve as the treasurer of the club. Hi, my name is Abby (she/her)! I'm a sophomore Psychology major with a minor in Criminal Justice. I'm from Alexandria, VA, which is about 30 minutes outside DC. I decided to come to Temple because I really liked the idea of living in an urban environment, and getting into the Honors Program was another big deciding factor. Outside of HATT, I am also involved in Temple Clean Up Club, Sharing Excess, and various concert bands (I play the trombone). In my free time, I like to explore the city, go to the gym, and watch sitcoms (Parks and Recreation and Schitt’s Creek are my favorites). My favorite things about the Honors Program are probably the close-knit community and priority registration. I also love participating in Honors courses, because the class sizes are smaller and you can build better relationships with your professors. Hi everyone! My name is Ramiyah Beckles (she/her). I am a first-year Psychology major pursuing a certificate in Forensic Psychology. I previously had the privilege of working with the NIH through a summer enrichment program, where I conducted research at the University of Maryland’s Lavender Lab examining the experiences of Black LGBTQ+ adolescents. Hi everyone! My name is Sana (she/her) and I’m a sophomore Public Health major! I started out as a Biochemistry major on the pre-med track, but soon I realized I was more drawn to the systemic side of health! I’m from Chalfont, PA, just about an hour outside of Philly. One big reason why I chose Temple was because I love the energy of the city, but also wanted a campus that felt like home. Temple has been that perfect balance! This past summer, I had the opportunity to do research at Fox Chase Cancer Center, where I worked on a project involving the SCAP gene. Hi everyone, I'm Derek (he/him)! My time at Temple has been defined by two major passions: exploring the outdoors and serving the community. I serve as President of the Biology Society, I'm a member of AMSA, and a student rep on the Biology Dept. Outreach and Engagement Committee. I’m also a student researcher in the Cordes Lab, where I’ve been studying deep-sea marine ecology and cold-water corals in the Gulf of Mexico. Hello! My name is Sunthriiwi (or Sun)(she/her) and I'm a junior Biology major with a Healthcare Management Minor and I'm gonna be working towards a Genomic Medicine Certificate. I'm from Chelmsford, MA which is pretty much a suburban town so I was super excited to go to school in the city. I’ve been a HATT for two years and I have loved being able to meet other Honor students and talk to prospective students about my experience. Hello! I’m Marco Given (he/him), a junior computer science major from North Plainfield, New Jersey. I’ve been a Honors Ambassador since freshman year and am now the junior HATT coordinator, as well as an Honors student worker and Peer Mentor. Outside of Honors I serve on Temple University’s General Education Executive Committee as the Honors student representative and am a member of the Temple Climbing Club. Additionally, this summer I had the opportunity to work with the VIDAR lab on a project and presented ongoing findings at the Fall 2025 CST Research Symposium. Hi!! My name is Nico (he/him), and I'm a Neuroscience major with a Psychology minor who aspires to be a psychiatrist. My name is Yash (he/him), and I'm a member of the class of 2029. I'm a Biology Major with a Genomic Medicine Certificate on the Pre-Medicine Track, and I'm interested in how what I learn in the classroom can be applied to the real world. In order to do so, I'm an active member in clubs like FIMRC, AED, and Salud. Getting involved in these clubs has sparked my interest in global health systems and how medicine can be used to support underserved communities. I’m the local project lead for the Temple Chapter of Engineers Without Borders, an organization that combines engineering and community service. I’m also on the board for ASCE, a networking organization for civil engineers and I work as a Teaching Assistant for Engineering Graphics. My hobbies include cooking and biking, and I’m also something of a transit enthusiast. I’m from Voorhees, New Jersey which is about a 35-40 minute drive into South Jersey. I chose Temple because of the numerous opportunities that are available in Philadelphia. There are also so many activities, clubs, opportunities etc. that Temple offers. What I love about Temple Honors is that it’s a program where students can reach their full potential and succeed due to the supporting and loving staff that care for our wellbeing and success. Hi everyone! My name is Dagmawi Masresha (he/him), and I’m a freshman majoring in Bioengineering with a Pre-Health concentration. I’m an international student from Ethiopia in East Africa. I chose Temple because of the Honors Program, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. I now serve as an Honors Peer Mentor, in addition to being an Honors Ambassador. Hi everyone! My name is Mae Garber (she/her), and I am a sophomore Actuarial Science major with an MIS minor. Hi! I'm Calista Aguinaldo (she/her), a sophomore majoring in Statistical Science & Data Analytics and Mathematical Economics. Coming from Rhode Island, Temple has opened the door to new perspectives, places, and communities that have shaped both my academic and personal growth. I'm fascinated by the patterns that underlie our world and how data can transform into meaningful change. Through my work with the Center for Applied Research and Decision Making Lab, I've had the opportunity to begin conducting research and collaborating with teams to uncover insights that support real-world decisions. Hi! My name is Chase (he/him) and I am a Junior Media Studies and Production Major with a certificate in Children's media. Among other interests, I am an animation enthusiast and avid Lego collector. From quite far away, I came to Temple because I felt like Honors would provide a strong community, and I have not been disappointed. Hello! My name is Rachel Scierka (she/her) and I am a junior here at Temple University. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh PA (Go Steelers!) and made the journey across the state to study film here. I love watching movies, listening to music, and making just about anything I can which is part of the reason as to why I chose Temple! HATT isn’t the only thing that I do here; in fact I play drums in the marching band, am president of the film production club on campus, and even took a class in puppet making and performance this past semester. My personal favorite is leaving campus for a day trip to Chinatown.
